Literature scholar, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor
Academic specialist in semiotics, rhetoric, poetics, and discourse analysis.
Born January 19, 1945, in Leninsk-Kuznetsky, Kemerovo Region.
In 1962, he entered the Philology Faculty at Leningrad State University (LSU, now St. Petersburg State University) named after A. A. Zhdanov. He studied for six years in the Department of Russian and Slavic Studies.
Since 1979 – Professor at the Department of Russian Literature and Literary Theory at Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU).
Since 2012 – Chief Research Fellow in the Literary Studies Section at the Institute of Philology, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS).
Actively participates in international and national academic conferences, including: Philological Readings (NSPU, Novosibirsk), Creativity Beyond Traditional Classifications in the Humanities (Institute of Linguistics, Moscow), Narratology and Plot Studies (Institute of Philology, SB RAS, Novosibirsk), Russian Literature in a Global Context (Dostoevsky Foundation, Moscow).
Author of over 200 scholarly works and numerous newspaper reviews on literature and theatre.
