Austrian bass-baritone, singer and vocal pedagogue, one of the world's leading performers of oratorio and German chamber music.
Born into a family of musicians, he is the son of baritone Christian Boesch and grandson of renowned Austrian singer and teacher Ruthilde Boesch. He received his first vocal lessons from her, later graduating from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He made his professional debut in 2000 with a concert at the Vienna Philharmonic. In 2002, he performed for the first time at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, and at the end of 2003, he made his debut at the Zurich Opera House as Papageno ('Die Zauberflöte').
Since 2002, he has performed regularly at the Salzburg Festival. He has taken part in productions such as Handel's 'Radamisto', R. Strauss's 'Der Rosenkavalier', Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro' conducted by N. Harnoncourt, and Mozart's 'Così fan tutte'. As part of the Salzburg Festival events, he has also sung solo parts in Mozart's 'Missa longa' in C major, the 'Great Mass' in C minor, and Haydn's oratorios 'The Creation' and 'The Seasons'.
As a guest soloist, he has performed at such venues as the Vienna Volksoper, Stuttgart State Theater, Hamburg State Opera, Theater an der Wien, Bolshoi Theatre, Los Angeles Opera, the Bregenz Festival, the Graz Festival, Cologne Opera, and others.
He is widely known as a refined performer of chamber and sacred music. Since 2015, he has held the position of Professor of Chamber Music and Oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, his alma mater.
