In 2015 – 2021 Dmitri held the posts of Music Director and Chief Conductor with the Novosibirsk state academic opera and ballet theatre. In 2021 he assumed the post of Artistic Director and kept the post of Chief Conductor.
Dmitri Jurowski, the youngest member of the famous musical family, started his musical education at the age of six at the Cello Department of the Moscow Conservatoire Musical School. After his family moved to Berlin, he continued his cello studies. In 2003, he started to take conducting classes at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin.
As an opera conductor, Dmitri Jurowski performs at the Lyric Opera in Chicago, Opera Bastille in Paris, Grand Theatre in Geneva, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa, La Fenice in Venice, Massimo Theatre in Palermo, Comunale Theatre in Bologna, Royal Theatre in Parma, National Theatre in Roma, Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts in Valencia, Comic Opera and State Opera in Berlin, New Israeli Opera in Tel-Aviv, Municipal Theatre in Santiago, Opera House in Monte-Carlo, Liege Opera, Flemish Royal Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu and other. He also appeared at the opera festivals in Wexford, Martina Franca, Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago.
As a symphonic conductor, Dmitri Jurowski has worked with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the orchestras of La Fenice and the Turin Royal Theatre, the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra in Parma, the Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra of Milan, the Portugal Symphony Orchestra of Lisbon, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the philharmonic orchestras of Dresden, St Petersburg, and Shanghai, the symphony orchestras of Hamburg and Vienna (Bregenz festival), the Residence Orchestra of the Hague, the Orchestra of the Irish Radio/Television, and the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra.
In 2010 Dmitri Jurowski made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre. He toured with the Bolshoi Theatre’s production of Eugene Onegin (directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov) to the Royal Opera House, the Real Theatre in Madrid, and the Lucerne Festival.
Since 2011 maestro holds the post of Chief Conductor with the Flemish Royal Opera. In 2011/2012 season he has been Chief Conductor of the Russian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of Moscow. Since September 2015 Dmitri has been Music Director and Chief Conductor with the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre. The following operas premiered at the theatre under Dmitri Jurowski's musical direction: Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov (2015, directed by Dmitry Belov), Puccini’s Turandot, Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades. The Game, Verdi’s Aida, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera (2016-2017, directed by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev), Rossini’s Barber of Seville (2018, directed by Dmitry Belyanushkin), Verdi’s Falstaff (2020), Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snow Maiden (in concert, 2020), Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta (2020), Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2020), Puccini’s Tosca (2021), Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchey the Deathless, Mozart’s Magic Flute (2021); and ballets: Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet (2016), Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake (2019), Class Concert set to music by Glazunov, Lyadov, Rubinstein, Shostakovich (2019), Rubies set to music by Stravinsky (George Balanchine ballet © 2019), Theme and Variations set to music by Tchaikovsky (George Balanchine ballet © 2019), Jewels (George Balanchine ballet © 2019).
